Retreat Guides
Kris: I have been a student of yoga since 2005 and began sharing my love of yoga with others in 2018 following training at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Stockbridge, MA. My classes incorporate asana (postures), pranayama (breath work), meditation, and relaxation for a holistic yoga practice. I meet students where they are on their yoga journey and encourage students to explore yoga in their own bodies, drawing awareness to sensations and breath and providing variations and encouraging the use of props.
Nature inspires me and often guides the teachings that I offer in each class – whether learning how to let go by watching trees shed their leaves each fall or blooming into ourselves like the tiniest of seeds does each spring and summer. We can learn so much when attuning to the rhythms of each season. Each of us has a unique yoga journey to experience and I am here to guide you in the unfolding of the experience.
Richard: I have had a love for wilderness and especially, the night sky, all my life. Some of my fondest memories from childhood in northwestern Pennsylvania were of times spent at my grandparent’s farm, wandering the woods during the day, and staring up at the Milky Way at night.
My passions for the outdoors and a wish to connect on a deeper level with the more than human world led me to become a Kripalu certified mindful outdoor guide. This training showed me how to transform my time outdoors into a meditative practice that allows me to turn off the never-ending loop of to-do-lists that used to run in my mind and to connect with the natural world and see things I have not noticed since childhood. The training also showed me how I could help others learn these skills and start on the journey to a more nature centered life.
