Resting Tree Book Club

  • Cambridge Springs Public Library (note multiple meeting dates in description) 158 McClellan Street Cambridge Springs, PA, 16403 United States (map)

Bringing Nature Home has sparked a national conversation about the link between healthy local ecosystems and human well-being. There is an unbreakable link between native plant species and native wildlife—native insects cannot, or will not, eat alien plants. When native plants disappear, the insects disappear, impoverishing the food source for birds and other animals. By acting on Douglas Tallamy's practical recommendations, everyone can make a difference.

Join Kris and Richard in exploring this important topic for anyone who wants to make the areas around their homes more inviting to nature. We will share some of our experiences as we have tried to live with nature. We started this journey over 20 years ago when we became caretakers to the 11-acre farm we call home.

Over the course of three sessions, the book club will meet at the Cambridge Springs Public Library from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Saturday mornings to discuss the book (see schedule below).  To integrate these concepts fully, a speaker from the Crawford County Master Gardeners is planned for the last session.  The group size is limited, so please register with the library (814)398-2123.

Meeting dates and task list:
January 25th: Meeting 1 – Read chapters 1 through 8.
February 8th: Meeting 2 – Read chapter 9 through the Afterword
February 22nd: Meeting 3 – Speaker from Crawford County Master Gardeners
