Winter Solstice Workshop description/summary:

Celebrate the winter solstice and prepare for the New Year by experiencing mindfulness and nature meditation.at the new Northwest REC Community Forest! We will revisit ancient traditions and ways of sensing the natural world that modern society has forgotten. Richard Gosnell, Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide and astronomy professor, will discuss how we can reconnect with the more than human world by learning and practicing some basic tools of mindfulness and meditation. When performed repeatedly, these practices will encourage a deeper connection with the outdoors; relax an overactive mind; and enhance greater sensitivity to the patterns of nature.  He will also discuss how the winter solstice and the date of the New Year has influenced society in ancient times through today. Bring a seat and dress for the weather. Must be 18 to attend. No pets.
We will meet Sunday, December 29th at 10:00 am at the newly dedicated Northwestern REC Community Forest, 22862 Wenner Dr, Cambridge Springs, PA 16403. Park in the lot at the end of Wenner Dr.
