This fall we could see Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS 2023, our first comet visible to the naked-eye since 2020! On October 7th at 6:30 pm at the Cambridge Springs Public Library, Richard Gosnell, Penn State Behrend lecturer of physics and astronomy and mindful outdoor guide will discuss some of the mythology, history, and science of comets. In addition to comets, he will also discuss the bigger family of objects that visit Earth from space, including meteors and asteroids, in terms of what they are but also when they occur. Finally, he will visit some of the implications these objects pose for life on Earth. This talk is intended for audiences of all ages. This is a free event. No registration required.
